Evan's B-day #2 Party!!!

Evan and his best friend Jada. I don't think he knows what a best friend is, my definition is inseparable! I decided on cupcakes for birthday cake, much less mess and the candle blowing doesn't taint the whole cake. Not like the birthday cake Evan "blew" all over on Thursday!!!

This is Toby, he's 14 months old, the youngest and a very entertaining part of the party.

Mhairi and Donna also enjoying cupcake in the shade.

Evan's friend Shiloh, she's the closest to his age at the church, just a few months older. We had a great time at her bbq birthday party! Evan loves being around all the kids he knows.

Jason with as much cupcake (and part of his dad's finger) in his mouth...

Here's everyone with their cupcake faces! We had a great party - Evan's napping it off as I write this. We filled the backyard with as many big toys as we could - even borrowed some crawling tubes from the library - and we all had a blast! The pizza was good, the sun was hot and the shade was the best place to be! I'm very happy with this picture, I didn't expect everyone would actually stand still for enough time, let alone pose so nicely!

Toby steals the show with his enthusiastic congradulatory clapping!

Evan moments

You can't really see from this picture just how much icing is on his face, in blue, yellow and pink. (We were decorating cupcakes for some friends' baby shower.)
He would only take bites of cupcake when there was icing on it... he does okay with sugar highs, doesn't get crazy or grumpy so I let him indulge on rare occasion.
I love his smiles!

Raspberries!!!

The only thing raspberries are good for! He won't try them... He's a bit picky with food, but we're working on it. It's hard to believe he'll be two on Thursday, he's just not my baby anymore! We're having a party for him Saturday, with family and a few of his friends.
For those of you who live farther away and can't see Evan as often as you like... his vocabulary is growing very quickly, but it all sounds so much sweeter out of his mouth. He's good at making his needs known! He hasn't been on either soother or bottle for a while now, but after all that work, we decided to wait until after his 2nd birthday to work on potty training. In typical boy style he doesn't enjoy changes to his routines, but we're learning to ease him into new things.
In non-Evan news, we had an ultrasound last week and found out we should be expecting another boy!!! I'm pretty happy, I'd hoped for a friend for Evan and I'm not panicked about having a girl, we're still flexible on how many children we'll have. We'll see how we feel after this one. It's going to get really tight here in the house, so Scott's thinking of annexing a small part of the bsmt suite and making it his office. It'll be a mad house here when I'm off work again. We're expecting the new baby early December, so we'll have a larger family at Christmas! We also won't be doing any travelling as I don't want to do that with a fresh newborn - it'll be stressful enough planning Christmas and adapting to a 2-child family.
That's all the baby news for now. Scott's taking a break from studies for a semester and focusing on some changes at the Gate (including renovations and encouraging pastoral care amongst our regular attenders). I have finished my qualifying exam that will now allow me to write the AB exam for life insurance licensing - don't ask me why, I'll have very little life insurance selling to do, if any, although the way things are going at work it won't be that way for long. Once I'm done that I'll have to make sure I've got all the continuing ed credits I need to tide me over until I'm back at work Jan 2009... so I anticipate much studying in the next few months.
